“A person experiencing dysphagia is often frustrated at the inability to enjoy food and drinks as before. Some disregard their dysphagia and proceed with oral feeding without expert advice, only to end up with chest infections.
The negative psycho-social impacts of dysphagia include the inability to socialize over a meal which is typical of Asian culture. The presence of a nasogastric tube sticking around one's face is also unsightly and detrimental to one's self-esteem.”
